Week of March 15-21, 2020
This week had been hectic to say the least.
With the new updates spreading about COVID-19, my town has basically shut down and placed everyone on lockdown. I am still trying to get back into the swing of things. Duquesne has officially moved all of its students online. I have felt a little bit overwhelmed with schoolwork and trying to stock my family’s pantry. Along with this, I have struggled to find a healthy outlet to relax. All of my siblings and my parents are home, and it can prove somewhat difficult to find a quiet space to study and unwind.
Midterms for my classes were administered over blackboard starting on Monday, and I have slowly chipped away at them. It is hard to be studying the ancient ruins and art of Rome when you’re not actually there to look and experience them. It makes me miss being there all the more. I have made sure to stay in touch with my friends and other classmates to make sure that I am on track with my notes and assignments. I am anxious to see how our first Baroque Art class goes with our Zoom meeting scheduled for next Tuesday morning. Talking with those who also got sent home made it easier to put into perspective that I am not in a bad situation- things could have been a lot worse.
As I have been home, I have been in contact with my advisor with questions about my major and plans to go abroad after graduation. I had originally planned to go on the Maymester to London and Scotland after Rome, but it has been canceled amid the coronavirus spreading. This being said, I do not have many options. After this year, I will have classes going on through the summer, and I will not be able to travel. So as for now, I have a lot of time to plan an amazing post-graduation vacation, or I can petition for Physician Assistants to be recognized in Europe!
